P/s leak identified.well, i found my p/s leak It looks like someone has put clear power steering fluid in it, whereas it calls for dexron ii/iii atf This thing has probably been leaking for decades!!!

It looks like the seal at the top of the mechanism where the steering shaft comes into the unit is the culprit. I fill the reservoir to the correct level, bleed the air by having the front wheels off the ground turning about 10 times lock. I've searched through ih8mud, several other cruiser forums i have the typical 80 dreaded p/s leak I started with reservoir as it used to froth and bubble, it doesn't froth or bubble now
I replaced the (high pressure?) hoses that go in/out of resi Still leaks i was going to start looking at a. Leak sealers swell seals frank Find a sealer that will work with your power steering
Just take the fluid out of your reservoir and put it in a clean pot
Tip your sealer into the reservoir up to the cold mark Keep your reservoir topped up If the sealer doesn't work after say 200 miles, go se your master mech. The most common ps leak on toyotas is the high pressure line, though it's usually a much slower leak
The high pressure line runs all the way from the reservoir (large banjo bolt) to the rack on the drivers side. Lines going to the steering box on top of the trans Not a ton, but enough to bother me I tried to tighten the lines and i also put some lucas additive in it
